The Chinese American Museum presents a summer evening of music and speakers discussing representation of Asian Americans in the hip hop music industry. Thursday, August 23, 2018 from

Speakers at the event will explore how the community used hip hop to disrupt the passive “model minority” stereotype by pursuing artistic careers as dancers, rappers, DJs, and producers and their challenges of navigating the music industry. This event will celebrate the launch of a zine published in conjunction with the exhibition. A Q&A discussion moderated by the co-curators Justin Hoover and Ninochka McTaggart, PhD will follow the presentations.
