To help stop the spread of COVID-19, the City of Los Angeles is launching SafePassLA, which requires certain establishments to verify that patrons (not employees) are vaccinated against COVID-19. On October 7, 2021, the City of Los Angeles adopted an ordinance to require proof of a full COVID-19 vaccination to enter the indoor portions of food establishments, gyms, entertainment and recreational locations, personal care establishments, and outdoor events within the City, as well as certain City facilities.

SafePassLA launches on November 8, 2021, with City outreach and education. Enforcement will begin November 29, 2021. Please note that this page will be updated with more information and resources as they become available. A list of Frequently Asked Questions is available for common concerns and inquiries.

More Information on City and County Reopening Protocols

Per the current City of Los Angeles (City) Safer L.A. Public Order and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (County) Health Officer Reopening Order, all City and County residents must wear an appropriate face covering and practice social (physical) distancing when in public.

Per the County, practicing physical distancing and wearing a face covering is required to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, even if all protocols are followed, there are increased risks of exposure to COVID-19 any time you visit a public place.

COVID-19 is highly infectious. Seniors and individuals with underlying conditions are more vulnerable to severe illness. It is strongly encouraged that all visitors evaluate their own health and any risks when planning a visit to El Pueblo Historical Monument and Olvera Street.

Per federal, state, county, and local guidelines: as people infected with COVID-19 may still spread the virus even if they show no symptoms, any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to and/or contracting COVID-19. By visiting the El Pueblo Historical Monument and Olvera Street, all visitors voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

El Pueblo Historical Monument remains committed to its role as a valuable resource for the community during this unprecedented moment in history. Here you will find links to important information and resources to assist our community during this time.
